A lungfish is three genera of fleshy-finned
bony fishes of the subclass Dipnoi, found in
Africa, South America, and Australia. They
have elongated bodies, and grow to about 2m
(6ft), and in addition to gills have `lungs'
with which they can breathe air during
periods of drought conditions.
